From St. James to Santiago
What happens when you turn a personal challenge into a project to also give something back?
Hey,
I'm Pedro, a 50-year-old who's made a New Year's resolution that goes beyond simply dropping those extra pounds I've carried for the last 10-15 years. This year, I'm committing to a journey that will test my limits and transform my life — cycling from London (St. James Park) to Santiago de Compostela, arriving in time to celebrate my 53rd birthday on June 10th, 2027.
With a year and a half to prepare, this isn't just about personal transformation or proving it's never too late to change bad habits. It's about making a real difference along the way
This epic cycling adventure will push me past every comfort zone, scale countless heights, and cover hundreds of miles across 2 countries. But the destination is more than a personal milestone — it's a mission to raise vital funds for Cancer Research UK and Addenbrooke's Charitable Trust.
Armed with nothing but determination, my sturdy 20 y.o. Specialized FSR XC Comp bike, and a heart full of purpose, I'm inviting friends, family, and community to join in. Every mile I pedal represents not just physical strides toward Santiago, but crucial funding for these organisations that touch so many lives.
The preparation begins now. The training, the planning, the small victories and setbacks — it's all part of the story. Follow along as I work toward this goal, cheer on the effort, and discover how one person's decision to challenge themselves can ripple out to uplift others, inspire change, and fuel hope where it's needed most.
Ready to join the ride? Let’s make every turn of the wheel count.
The clock is ticking - Santiago awaits!

Your donation saves lives.
When you support Cancer Research UK, you're funding the scientists and clinical trials bringing breakthrough treatments closer to reality. Survival rates have doubled in four decades, but with 1 in 2 people facing a cancer diagnosis, there's urgent work ahead. Just £24 funds an hour of vital research. £100 supports a researcher for half a day, accelerating discoveries that could save thousands of lives.
Addenbrooke's Charitable Trust transforms care for patients and families today. Your gift funds the crucial extras the NHS can't provide—pioneering diagnostic equipment that detects cancer earlier, comfort rooms where families receive difficult news with dignity, and specialist support services that help patients cope and maintain hope through treatment. These aren't luxuries; they're lifelines.
Cancer doesn't discriminate, and neither should access to world-class research and compassionate care. Whether cancer has touched your life or you want better outcomes for those it will affect, your donation creates immediate impact. Research finds tomorrow's cures. Enhanced care improves today's patient experience. Both give families precious time together.
Choose your impact: Support Cancer Research UK for breakthrough research, Addenbrooke's Charitable Trust for enhanced patient care, or split your gift between both. Every penny fights cancer. Make your donation below.
